The Final Verdict

It goes without saying that perpetual acts of en masse enervation of the population leaves it with no choice but to throw a decisive blow towards the enervators in one last dance. It was evident after the verdict of the common people emerged bright and clear after the results of the West Bengal legislative assembly elections came out. Today, the people of Bengal witnessed a spectacular event as the fate of the great state of India got terraformed for the overall good. During the early phase neck-to-neck competition of the two major forces, the verdict was translucent but as the counting progressed towards the later stages, one could see a dismal sheen. What appeared as a close competition in the morning turned out to be a landslide victory in the evening! Over the past 15 years of reign of the ruling party, the people of West Bengal didn't see that level of development which they anticipated. The election results served as a reminder that only the en masse have the final say in any democracy. Fascism has no place in it! In one desperate act of overthrowing injustice, the people choose justice and was seen flipping the bird at the perpetrators. With this flabbergasting victory of the principal opposition party over the ruling party, West Bengal joined the league becoming the third territory after Odisha and Bihar to come under the leadership of the saffron-robed. There were many incidents over the past one and a half decade which enraged the voters. One of the most prominent and disheartening one was the 'Abhaya case'. The victim's mother contested the elections posing as a candidate of the opposition party and emerged victorious. Under the rule of the ruling party, deindustrialisation, freebies, cut money, extortion, corruption and job scams among many others saw a sharp rise and abounded leading to eruptions of mass protests by the pain inflicted commoners. The people felt desolate and truly wanted a 'change'! They wanted the power to rest in the hands of a 'better alternative'. The elections served as a stage for the people of West Bengal to voice their concerns and choose their fate while casting the vote in favour of the winning party. Now that the government would be formed by the opposition and it will become the weilder of power carrying out the small and big reforms in Bengal, will we be able to enunciate the following quote and envisage a future where the whole of India would be seen living upto it? — "What Bengal thinks today, India thinks tomorrow, and the rest of the world thinks the day after tomorrow." The question remains, "How will the future of Bengal look like?" — Will the promises the opposition party made to the people be kept? Will it be able to identify itself as a force to reckon with while carrying out the reforms? Will it be able to elevate the mindset of the Bengali people while making sure that the very pure essence of Bengal remains intact and doesn't get vanquished in the process? Most importantly, will Bengal again be able to become a force leading India to glory as was the scene in the pre-independence era? The future awaits and only time will tell whether the dream will become a reality or not!
